I firmly believe there can never be too much chocolate in any recipe. This is because my tastebuds love chocolate, crave chocolate, and need chocolate all day, every day, to survive.

And when I can get cookies and brownies together, it’s like a dessert dream come true! Seriously. This brownie bar recipe is great for parties, birthdays, or an easy after-school snack for the kids.

The fun part about this easy dessert recipe is that there is a cookie layer and a brownie layer. That means double the layers. Double the flavor. (and for me, double the happiness!)

If I can get a multitude of flavors out of one simple recipe, I’m happy to make that recipe time and time again. Because I have many cravings on my own but combined with all the men in the house, we all want something different!

It’s safe to say that this Oreo dessert recipe hits many of the flavor notes we want to feed. We bake this together, pour big glasses of milk, and sit together at the table to enjoy.

How do I know when brownies are done baking?

Knowing when brownies are done baking can be a tricky task. Generally, when the surface of the brownies looks dry and crackly, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, this suggests that the brownies are typically done.

Another method to determine if your brownies have finished baking is to give them a very gentle shake. It usually indicates that they are cooked through if they appear sturdy enough not to collapse or jiggle too much.

As an added precaution, always check around the edge of your brownie pan, as these areas may require more time than those at the center.

Be sure not to overbake your brownies, as you want them to be moist and fudgy in texture!

What is the best way to store leftover brownies?

The best way to store them is by placing them in an airtight container or wrapping each piece individually with plastic wrap. This will keep the freshness in and the air out, thus preserving your brownies’ soft and moist texture!

If you have multiple layers of brownies, make sure to add a layer of wax paper between them so that they do not stick together when you return for more.

Finally, if you have larger servings, storing small cut-up pieces in resealable plastic baggies can lengthen their shelf life too!
