Preheat the oven to 350 degrees to get ready to bake the cookies. This is an easy recipe to make and helps you create the most delicious cookies. You can use a stand mixer to help create the cookie dough.

Once you have everything together, it is an easy process. You can make these cookies in a few hours, but the good news is they only need to bake for 9-10 minutes.

My boys also love it when I bake because they just love this OREO dessert recipe! They get a little impatient with me, and I can see them looking and checking for when they are ready. However, they know they are worth the wait. My whole family loves them!

What is the easiest way to soften butter for baking cookies?

To get the butter smooth and creamy, you need to get it to room temperature. That way, it’ll cream up nice and easy when you’re using the stand mixer or electric mixer to make the cookie dough.

What is the easiest way to crush Oreo cookies?

Crushing Oreo cookies into small pieces can be a quick and easy process. Using a food processor or blender is the most efficient method, as these machines provide an even crumble with minimal effort.

If these tools are unavailable, bags of the cookies can also be placed in a heavy-duty freezer bag and smashed by hand or with a rolling pin.

This can be especially enjoyable for young children looking to help out in the kitchen.

However, it is important to check that no large chunks remain when finished, as these will impede both presentation and texture of the final dish containing crushed Oreo cookies.

What can I use in place of Oreo cookies?

For those looking for alternatives to Oreo cookies, various substitutes are available.

Graham crackers can be used in many desserts and recipes that traditionally call for Oreos, from a cheesecake crumble topping to tart shells.

Other store-bought options include Biscoff cookies, Farrah Ott’s, or Vanilla Wafers. Knowing some baking basics also allows for homemade versions of popular Oreo treats; crushed cracker crumbs with melted butter make an excellent replacement for Oreo crusts.

If desired, additional flavorings like cocoa powder or cinnamon can also be added to the mix.

Ultimately, the choice of alternate ingredients is up to the individual cook and what flavors they wish to impart to their dish.

How do I keep Oreo cookies from going stale?

Keeping Oreo cookies from going stale can be tricky if you have acquired more than you can eat in a short period.

One method to help them stay fresh for longer is to store them away from exposure to air and moisture, such as in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag.

Limiting access to oxygen and other sources of moisture will help retard the oxidation process, which causes them to become stale.

If the package they originally came in is not designed to be resealed, transfer the contents into another container or bag once it has been opened.

Additionally, it is wise to avoid exposing previously opened Oreo packages to high temperatures as this could cause condensation and accelerate spoilage.

Following these few safeguards can help ensure that your Oreos remain delectably crisp for as long as possible.

The dough needs time to set and be very cold to bake to get the right consistency. A cold dough helps to create the crunchy outer texter but soft cookie on the inside.

Don’t skip this step. A great tip is to prepare the cookie dough in the morning and then bake them later that day.

These Oreo Cream Cheese Cookies are going to become your new favorite cookie recipe fast! Chocolate cookies with cream cheese frosting will always be a taste sensation. But in cookie form, they really are a delight.

Ingredients

  • 1⁄2 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 ounces of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 & 1⁄4 cups of powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 & 3⁄4 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 cup of crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (10 cookies)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, using a hand mixer or a stand mixer, cream together the butter and cream cheese until smooth on medium speed, about 1 minute. Add the powdered sugar in the bowl a little at a time until fully mixed, and scrape down the sides as needed. Add in the egg and vanilla, and mix to combine.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the baking powder, salt, and flour. Add to the mixer a little at a time until fully incorporated, and scrape down the sides as needed. Add in the crushed cookies and mix until just combined.
  3. Cover and place the cookie dough in the fridge for at least 2 hours. The dough must be very cold before baking or the cookies will spread.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place 1 tablespoon-sized ball of cookie dough onto a parchment-lined sheet tray. You can roll the cookie dough into balls for a more uniform look. Bake for 9-10 minutes until they are just set. You know they are ready when they don’t look wet anymore. Let them cool completely on the sheet tray.

Notes

Store these cookies in an airtight container once completely cooled.
