This is such an easy muddy buddies recipe! It’s such a fun and simple sweet snack. We like to make this a lot during the summer months because we’ll add in a few surprise drops of lemon juice to really enhance that summer citrus flavor.

Since this recipe calls for lemon gelatin, this is where that citrus flavor comes from. If you want to add in more, you can always try a bit of lemon zest, too.

Easy Lemon Puppy Chow Recipe

My boys and I love to make puppy chow together because we can all have a helping hand. Each of us has a task that we like to do so being able to work together in the kitchen is always a great idea. One coats the Chex cereal, one holds the plastic bag, and I taste test along the way!

This is the perfect snack recipe for a fun movie night at home or can be a great snack to take in the car on road trips as well. While there is melted chocolate in this recipe, it’s not messy once it’s coated with sugar.

Who called it puppy chow?

I’m not as certain as who named it. As to why it was named this way, however, it resembles the food of a puppy, hence the name.
