The biggest thing to keep in mind here is that you want to make certain that the chocolate chips are fully melted and cereal is coated well. This is the part of the recipe that is going to take the longest and it’s still not even that long!
My boys love sweets and treats and this is one of their favorites. They love the crunchiness of puppy chow combined with the sweet flavor and taste. It’s always a winner when I make it.

The most common name that people will call puppy chow besides puppy chow is muddy buddies. I hear this all the time! Maybe it just depends on what part of the state you’re from to know what to call it?
More Rainbow Recipes:
- 6 cups of Rice Chex
- 12 ounces of white Candy Melts
- 1⁄2 cup of powdered sugar
- 1⁄2 cup of Sugar Cookie Mix
- 1 package of Sweet Tart Rainbow Rope
- 12 1-gallon plastic baggie
Grab the mixing bowl and add in the Chex cereal.
Open the plastic bag and dump in the cookie mix and some powdered sugar. Mix around.
Take 10 rainbow straws and cut them into pieces. Add to the bag with the sugar mixture.
Melt the white candy melts per the directions on the package.
Once melted pour over the Chex mix in the bowl.
After mixed, dump the Chex mix into the plastic bag and shake until coated.
Pour out on a baking pan to let dry.
