Can I stir in the pecans instead of have them on top?

You can try, although I really enjoy the crunchy top layer a lot. If you do, there’s a chance that once you put in the oven and bake, the pecans might lose a bit of their crispiness.

  • 3/4 cup corn syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves

Instructions

Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees.

Next, take a 9X9 baking dish and grease it.

Use a large mixing bowl and add in the butter and sugar and mix. It should be light and fluffy once done. This will take about 2 minutes.

Once done, add in the eggs and vanilla.

Grab another bowl and add in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir.

Take and add half of the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and mix well. Then add in the rest of the dry ingredients and mix.

Pour the mixture into your baking dish.

Pop in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. Take out and start to prepare the pecan pie layer.

Mix the corn syrup and sugar first in a separate bowl, then beat in the eggs, vanilla, and butter.

Pour the filling over the cooked brownies and then top with pecan halves.

Pop it back in the oven and bake for another 20-30 minutes.
