This Cranberry Orange Whoopie Pies Recipe is one of the best flavors of fall!

Whoopie pies are one of the most fun treats to make because it transforms us all right back to our childhood!

You’re going to want to make certain that you use an electric mixer during this recipe so that you get all the dry ingredients perfectly blended with the butter and sugar!

My kids literally ask for these ALL THE TIME. And I’ll have to agree that they’re fun to eat and really, really good!

Cranberry Orange Whoopie Pies Recipe

These whoopie pies are actually really easy to make. I think that a lot of people think that they’re complicated to do, but they’re really not. Take the time to whip up these orange-flavored treats and you won’t be sorry.

My boys literally crave these all the time but I like to save them for the cooler time of year. Making these for a fun Thanksgiving dessert or a fall treat is an excellent idea as well!

Why are they called whoopie pies?

While this might not be a factual story, the rumor is that when the men who worked outside the home would open up their lunchboxes for the day, they’d shout “whoopie!” when they’d see these treats waiting to be eaten!

Cranberry Orange Whoopie Pies Recipe

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes

This whoopie pie recipe is perfect for a fall dessert or a sweet weekend treat at home!

Ingredients

To make the Cookies

  • 1 box of Yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup of Oil
  • 1/2 cup of Orange juice
  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 T of Orange zest

To make the Cream Filling

  • 4 ounces of softened butter
  • 8 ounces of softened cream cheese
  • 1 T of Orange extract
  • 1 c up of Powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup of chopped up Dried Cranberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375° and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the cake mix, oil, orange juice, zest, and eggs in a large bowl.
  3. Put 1 T of the batter onto the baking sheet, leaving about 3 inches in between each one.
  4. Put in the middle rack of your oven and bake for about 10 minutes or so.
  5. Take out and let cool for 10 minutes on the pan. Move to a wire rack.

    To Make the Cream Filling
  1. Mix the butter, orange extract, and cream cheese until fluffy.
  2. Mix in the powdered sugar.
  3. Carefully fold in the cranberries.
  4. Add the cream filling on half of the cookies. Put the other cookie on top and dust the top with powdered sugar.
