This Italian Beef Hoagies Recipe is one of my favorite Italian beef sandwiches. It’s loaded with flavor and easy to shred with two forks. Add in some Italian seasoning and you’ve got yourself quite a meal!

Toppings are where it’s at for me. I love to pile on the banana peppers, sliced onions, and even some cheese here and there! It’s a massive sandwich for a big appetite!
Italian Beef Hoagies Recipe
Once you make this shredded beef in the crockpot, you’re going to want to make it over and over again. This is why pot roast is one of my favorite slow-cooked recipes. Choose between a chuck roast or a beef roast and get ready to love making a truly hearty meal.
Since we’re on the go a lot, I keep the staples for this recipe on hand. I love it best with hoagie rolls and the boys really love piling on the pepperoncini peppers. To each their own when making this sandwich!
Can you add in other veggies to this recipe?
You bet. You can never have too many types of pepper rings or even some fresh bell peppers. Thinly sliced onions are always a good idea as well.

Can you freeze shredded beef?
You can! I do this all the time and it’s the perfect way to meal prep and has a great meal ready and handy for the day.
Just add it to a freezer bag and put it in the freezer. Then when you’re ready to unthaw and eat, just top with provolone cheese and enjoy!

Bread Roll Ingredients
- ⦁ 5 cups of Bread Flour
- ⦁ ¾ tsp Salt
- ⦁ 2 cups of warm water
- ⦁ 4 tsp dry yeast
- ⦁ 3½ T vegetable oil
- ⦁ 1 room temperature egg
- ⦁ 4½ tsp granulated sugar
Italian Beef Ingredients
- ⦁ 3 cups of Beef broth
- ⦁ 1 tsp Salt
- ⦁ 1 tsp Ground pepper
- ⦁ 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- ⦁ 1 tsp Dried onion
- ⦁ 1 tsp Dried parsley
- ⦁ 1 tsp Garlic powder
- ⦁ 1 Bay leaf
- ⦁ 1 package of dry Italian dressing mix
- ⦁ 3-4 pound chuck roast
- ⦁ ½ cup cut up pepperoncini peppers
- ⦁ ¼ cup of pepperoncini juice
How to Make Hoagie Rolls
Add salt, yeast, and flour to the bowl and mix with a mixer.
In a different bowl, whisk together oil, egg, sugar, and water until the sugar dissolves.
Using a hook mixer on low, add the liquid to the dry and combine. This will form the dough. You can increase speed slowly as it starts to form.
Put the dough onto a lightly floured area or surface and knead. This should make it a smooth ball.
Put the dough in a bowl that is greased, turning once to have some grease on the top area. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until it's doubled in size.
Spray two different baking sheets with cooking spray and put the rolls of dough on them. Cover with greased plastic wrap and let rise about 40 minutes or so.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and after the dough has risen, cut a slash in the middle.
Put in the oven and bake for 30 minutes.
How To Make Italian Shredded Beef
Add the broth, pepper, salt, Italian seasoning, parsley, onion, garlic powder, bay leaf, and Italian seasoning dressing mix to a bowl and mix.
Add the roast to the crock pot.
Put the liquid mixture over the top.
Add in pepperoncini peppers and the liquid.
Cover and cook on low for 10 hours.
Once done, remove the bay leaf and shred it.
Serve on the baked hoagie rolls!
