How do I store candy-coated pretzel rods?

Storing candy-coated pretzel rods properly is essential to maintain their delicious crunch and prevent the candy shell from becoming tacky.

To achieve this, keep them in an airtight container at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity, which can cause them to melt or become stale.

For the best results, line the container with parchment paper to avoid sticking and ensure the candy coating remains intact.

If you’ve made a large batch, consider storing them in smaller containers to avoid exposing the entire batch to air whenever you enjoy a few. This method helps preserve their freshness and texture for longer periods, ensuring you can savor each sweet and salty bite as intended.

  • Pretzel rods
  • White candy melts or vanilla-flavored almond bark
  • Pink candy melts
  • Blue candy melts
  • Sprinkles/sanding sugar

  1. Melt the candy according to the directions on the package. Don't overhead, but if you do happen to overheat, you can add 2 teaspoons of coconut oil or vegetable oil to thin it out. (Don't use any other type of liquid or it will seize the candy and harden it)
  2. Pour the melted candy coating over 2/3 of the pretzel rod and shake to remove excess. Add sprinkles immediately and rotate the Preztel rod to coat.
  3. Put the coated pretzels on waxed paper or a color rack.
  4. If you decide to add additional candy melts to the rods, let the first coating set completely. Then you can melt and drizzle with a fork to coat.
  5. Let the pretzel rods set up completely before serving or storing.
