Reese’s Pieces Puppy Chow Recipe
Keep in mind that how much powdered sugar and baking time it takes really depends on you. (and when I say baking time, I mean melting time in the microwave!) This recipe takes minimal effort but produces huge flavor results!
Since you’re using Chocolate Chex, it adds a bit of fun variance and flavor. Just be certain that your melt chocolate and stir evenly until coated!
My boys really love this recipe a lot and we make it all the time. They’re all about the crunch and flavor that the peanut butter and chocolate bring to the table!
How do you store puppy chow?

What are other names that puppy chow goes by?
Muddy buddy is probably the next well known choice but Monkey Munch is also another popular name for this delicious snack. During Christmas, it’s known as Reindeer Chow as well.
More Reese’s Recipes:
- 8 cups of Chocolate Rice Chex
- 12-ounce of white candy melts
- 3/4 cup of powdered sugar
- ½ cup of Reese’s Pieces
- ½ cup of sprinkles (I used yellow and orange)
- 1 brown paper bag
Put the rice cereal in a large bowl and set it aside.
Pour Reese's Pieces, sprinkles, and powdered sugar into the brown bag. Set aside.
Put the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and melt based on the directions on the package.
Once melted, pour it over the cereal and gently fold.
After all the cereal is coated, dump it into the brown bag, fold down the top, and shake.
Pour the mixture onto a parchment-covered pan. Let it dry.
Once dry, add in more Reese's Pieces and sprinkles.
