OREO Truffles Reindoor Poop Recipe

Sharing is caring!

I started laughing when my kids suggested we make a truffle dessert that looks like reindeer left behind. This OREO Truffles Reindeer Poop recipe is now our favorite holiday sweet treat.

Every Christmas, my kitchen turns into this magical workshop where we crush Oreos, shape them into funny little mounds, and coat them in white chocolate. The combination of crushed Oreos and cream cheese creates that rich, indulgent truffle texture we crave.

And let’s be honest, anything with “reindeer poop” in the name is bound to be a hit at holiday parties! These no-bake treats are also fun to get the kids involved in holiday baking.

These little chocolate-dipped delights look precisely like what you’d imagine magical reindeer would leave behind – if reindeer ate nothing but Oreos and sparkles!

Initially, I was overwhelmed by the thought of making them! But then I started having fun! Crushing up Oreos is like starting an adventure! Mixing in the cream cheese creates a beautiful mixture perfect for forming into truffles.

I let my kids help with the shaping part. The white chocolate coating makes them look like they’ve been sitting in the snow.

My favorite moment is watching people’s faces when they realize what these treats should be. Then they bite, and their expressions change from “eww” to “wow” in seconds!

What types of OREOS are best to use for these truffles?

Classic OREOS are your best friend for this recipe! That perfect combination of chocolate cookie and cream filling creates the ideal base for our truffle mixture.

It might be tempting to use Double Stuf OREOS, but they can make the mixture too soft and more challenging to handle.

If you want to get festive, try using the holiday-themed OREOS with red filling! Remember that different OREO flavors can have varying amounts of cream filling, even if they don’t say “Double Stuf” on the package.

The Mint Creme OREOS, for instance, have a bit more filling than the classic ones. I’ve tested them, though, and they’re still doable. They also add a cool winter twist to these treats!

Will my candy melts seize up?

No worries! The trick is all in the melting process. Keep the heat low and steady. I use 30-second bursts in the microwave. Stir between each burst, even if the melts don’t look fully melted yet. Add some coconut oil if your candy melts look too thick. It works like magic!

The biggest mistake people make is getting impatient and turning up the heat. Slow and steady wins this race! Your bowl and spatula must be completely dry, as even a drop of water can make your candy melts grainy.

And don’t stress if your first few dips aren’t perfect. Nobody expects reindeer poop to look fancy! Those little imperfections make them look more authentic. That’s what makes these treats extra fun to make!
