What I love about this oatmeal recipe is that you can make it on the stovetop and in the microwave as well. You’ll find the directions for the stovetop below in the printable recipe but don’t forget to try the microwave recipe as well!

To cook this recipe in the microwave, grab a 3-quart microwaveable bowl and combine all ingredients except yogurt and nuts.  Microwave on HIGH 4 to 6 minutes for quick oats and 7 to 9 minutes for old-fashioned oats or until most of the liquid is absorbed.  Let stand until desired consistency.  Top each serving with yogurt, walnuts and if desired, additional cranberries.

My boys love eating it any way that I make it each and every time!

What else can you add to this recipe for a change in flavor?

This great recipe is really quite versatile. You can use almond milk for some extra liquid and even mix in some maple syrup for added sweetness. I also think that sprinkling on some brown sugar on the top is a good idea sometimes, too!
