It is a great alternative to candy so you won’t mind the kids enjoying it so much, but it still satisfies that sweet craving! Easily put together and tastes amazing.
This is such a great snack to make for your friends, your family, and especially your kids. They will love the Thanksgiving Puppy Chow and how incredible it tastes. It is really simple to make and something I know you will be making year after year.
Once you have combined all of the ingredients together, you only need to leave it for one hour so that the puppy chow is completely dry. You can then transfer it to an airtight container or serve and enjoy!
Thanksgiving Puppy Chow
Make certain that you have a microwave-safe bowl that’s large bowl so that you can get all the ingredients stirred together and coated!
My boys love anytime that I make puppy chow, but they really love this simple Thanksgiving version of the puppy chow. It is so simple, and as long as you make sure you give the puppy chow time to dry, you can’t go wrong.
I think my boys will always love this recipe, no matter how old they get! Puppy Chow will always be requested.
How do you store puppy chow?
You want to keep the Chex cereal as fresh as possible, so the best advice is that once it is dry, you will store it in an airtight container.
The bonus with this recipe is that you don’t have to store it in the fridge either.

Thanksgiving Puppy Chow
Super tasty, simple to make, and perfect for Thanksgiving. You have to make this puppy chow!
Ingredients
- 8 Cups of Rice Chex
- 13.4 oz of Dulce de Leche
- 2 cups of Powdered Sugar
- 1⁄4 cup of Brown Sugar
- 1 Tbsp of Apple Pie Spice
- 1 Large Brown Paper Bag
Instructions
1. Set out a small mixing bowl and combine the brown sugar and Apple Pie Spice. Stir the sugar and spice until well combined.
2. Open the large brown bag and measure the 2 cups of powdered sugar into the bag. Add in the Spice mix.
3. Pour the rice Chex into a large mixing bowl.
4. Using a medium microwave-safe mixing bowl add the Dulce de Leche. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir and return to the microwave for 30 more seconds.
5. Pour the Dulce de Leche into the rice Chex and stir until the cereal is completely coated. Once coated dump into the brown back with the sugar mixtures. Close the bag and shake it up. Check to see if the cereal is coated completely, if not continue to shake.
6. Once all the cereal is coated pour it out onto a baking sheet covered in wax paper.
7. Let the puppy chow completely dry- for about 1 hour then put it into an airtight container.
Notes
Make sure you give the puppy chow time to dry out completely.
