What can you add if the soup is too thick?
Everyone likes their soup to be a certain texture, I get that! If you think that the soup is too thick, you can always add in some chicken broth or even a dash of heavy cream.

- 2 tbsp butter
- ½ cup of diced onion
- 6 tbsp butter
- 1 cup of milk
- 6 tbsp corn starch
- 8 cups of chicken broth
- 2 cups of half and half
- 5 cup of cubed red potatoes
- 3 cups of cubed ham
- 2 cups of sliced baby carrots
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 3 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 1/2 cups of sour cream
- additional items for garnish if desired; cheese, sour cream, chives, fresh cilantro, hot sauce
Put 2 tablespoons of butter into the Instant Pot and hit saute.
Put in the onions and saute.
Next, add in 6 tablespoons of butter and let melt.
Whisk the milk into the cornstarch and pour it into the Instant Pot with the onions. Add in the chicken broth and half and half.
Put in the ham, carrots, potatoes, garlic powder, and pepper.
Place on the lid of the Instant Pot and set it on high pressure for 6 minutes.
Once the time is up, quick release and remove the lid once the pressure has released.
Stir in sour cram slowly followed by the cheese.
