When it comes to meatloaf, the topping can take this comfort food classic from good to absolutely mouthwatering! The most popular choice? A rich, tangy ketchup glaze—often mixed with a hint of brown sugar and a splash of vinegar for a sweet and zesty kick.

Prefer something a little heartier? A savory mushroom gravy is a decadent option that pairs beautifully with the meatloaf’s flavors.

For cheese lovers, a gooey layer of melted cheddar or mozzarella is always a winner. And if you’re feeling bold, try a barbecue sauce topping for some smoky, lip-smacking goodness.

Whatever your style, the topping is your chance to make your meatloaf truly unforgettable!

What is a good substitute for ground beef?

Ground turkey or chicken is a popular swap—it’s leaner, lighter, and soaks up all the spices in your recipes like a pro.

Prefer something plant-based? Crumbled tofu or lentils bring a similar texture while keeping things protein-packed. And don’t forget about tempeh or jackfruit if you want to experiment with bold flavors and unique textures.

The best part? You can use these options in anything from tacos to spaghetti bolognese.
