Back to these absolutely perfect Hawaiian pinwheel sandwiches though. Not too much filling (I hate when it falls out all over me), just enough flour tortilla to offset the cream cheese mixture…just perfect.

Too bad I ran out of deli ham or I’d be making more right now. And the store is just…so far…sigh…

How to Make These Tortilla Wrap Sandwiches:

So, if you’ve never made tortilla wraps, they’re really easy. I like to make them for the kids’ lunches, or even just for myself when I get those rare days when they’re not home for lunch. Simple and filling, they’re easy and a little healthy, if the alternative is fried food or fast food. LOL!

So, I usually let my cream cheese sit on the counter for a bit so it’s nice and soft. Then I mix the cream cheese and pineapple. I like to use crushed pineapple, but I strain off as much of the juice as possible, because I don’t like my pinwheel sandwiches to be wet.

Then, I layer-up my slices of ham. I like the thinly sliced ham because it’s more fun that way. But chunky ham can be good. You do you.

Then you just cover it with plastic wrap and pop it in the refrigerator. I like to leave it in there for an hour, but the best Hawaiian tortilla wraps are the ones where I’ve refrigerated at least 2 hours. Gives the cheese plenty of time to really bond with the pineapple and firm up. I love it.

Hawaiian Tortilla Roll Ups

Can I prep these Hawaiian rolls in advance?

These make great appetizers or are perfect for a game day party. Due to the simple ingredients, prepping in advance is a breeze. You can easily make a double batch for family reunions, or have this as a fun option to drop off as a snack for new moms.

I like to make and layer these in a baking dish, as it creates the perfect base. If you do prep this party appetizer in advance, be sure that you cover the delicious pinwheels with aluminum foil. It’s an easy recipe to make, but you don’t want the flour tortillas to absorb any other smells from the fridge.

And while it’s a great recipe to make early, I do think that you shouldn’t prep them too early. The tortillas can become soggy the longer that they sit, so I typically only prep them a few hours in advance.

Pinwheel recipes are not hard to make, and the recipe card below will give you the simple steps to get started. After the first time that you make this, it’s going to be one of your favorite recipes.

Can I add other ingredients?

You can add green onions, Dijon mustard, honey mustard, shredded cheddar cheese, and even diced bell pepper to your wraps. Create a flavor that you’ll love to eat!
