Instructions to Make Rolo Popcorn
Making Rolo Popcorn is as easy as 1-2-3. Follow these simple instructions for a dessert that will wow your taste buds!
- Prepare the Popcorn
Start by popping your popcorn and placing it in a large mixing bowl. You’ll want to remove any unpopped kernels to ensure every bite is crunchy and delicious. - Create the Caramel Sauce
Melt butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir frequently to keep the mixture smooth. Once it starts bubbling, remove it from the heat and stir in baking soda. This will make the sauce lighter and easier to pour over the popcorn. - Melt the Rolos
Place your Rolos in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the candies are completely melted. - Combine and Toss
Pour the caramel sauce and melted Rolos over the popcorn, tossing gently to coat every kernel. You can use a spatula or your hands (with gloves) to ensure even coverage. - Bake, Cool, and Enjoy
Spread the coated popcorn on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at a low temperature to give it a perfect crunch. Once cool, break it into clusters and get ready to snack!
Dessert Tips and Tricks
Tip 1: Use freshly popped popcorn for the best flavor and texture. Avoid store-bought microwavable popcorn with added butter.
Tip 2: Stir quickly when mixing the sauce with popcorn to prevent clumping.
Tip 3: If you like extra crunch, add chopped nuts or pretzels to the mix before baking.
Troubleshooting Rolo Popcorn
Here are solutions to common issues when making this gooey dessert.
Burnt caramel? Cook the sauce over low to medium heat and stir frequently to avoid this.
