Instructions to Make Apple Fritters Recipe

Making these apple donut-style fritters is easier than you think!

Start by heating your oil in a deep skillet or fryer. While it warms, whisk together your dry ingredients in one bowl and your wet in another. Fold in the chopped apples gently—don’t overmix!

Use a spoon or scoop to drop dollops of batter into the hot oil. Let them fry until golden brown, flipping once. It only takes a few minutes per side.

Drain them on a paper towel, then drizzle or dunk in the glaze while warm. That’s it!

Dessert Tips and Tricks

  • Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized fritters and consistent cooking times.
  • Test your oil by dropping in a small bit of batter—if it sizzles and floats, you’re good to go.
  • Keep your apples small so they cook through quickly and evenly.
  • Don’t crowd the pan—give each fritter room to puff and brown.

Troubleshooting Apple Fritters

  • Fritters too dark? Your oil may be too hot. Reduce the heat slightly and monitor with a thermometer.
  • Too doughy inside? Try flattening the batter slightly when frying or reduce the size of each scoop.
  • Glaze not sticking? Let the fritters cool just a touch, then dip. Too hot and it slides off, too cold and it won’t melt on.

Make sure you have the right tools at hand to create this recipe with ease! Here are my top picks for preparing and serving apple fritters:
