The key to making a good quesadilla has good ingredients. I love how the soft flour tortillas turn into the perfect crispy base. It just doesn’t get any better than that!

The other cool part about making tortillas at home is that you can easily change the toppings inside. If you want pepperoni, add pepperoni. More of a black olive and onion fan? Make it happen! You can even have cheese without stress!

My boys love when it’s quesadilla night because they can make their own exactly how they want it to be. It’s like having a family dinner where everyone makes their concoction!

What makes a quesadilla different than a burrito?

Quesadillas and burritos are two familiar Mexican dishes with some similarities yet distinct differences.

Quesadillas consist of a tortilla filled with cheese and a range of other ingredients, while burritos feature a tortilla filled with staples such as meat, beans, and rice.

Both are grilled or fried to warm the filling and crisp the tortilla.

The main difference between these two popular dishes is their size—quesadillas are generally small enough to be eaten in one sitting, while burritos tend to be substantially larger.

However, quesadillas often contain more than one filling layer folded in half within the tortilla shell. In comparison, burritos typically only include one layer of ingredients in their single-cut wrap.

Ultimately, both succulent dishes offer quick and delicious meals for those strapped for time.

Can I make quesadillas with corn tortillas?

Yes, you can make quesadillas with corn tortillas. Corn tortillas are an ideal quesadilla star for various reasons- their flavor profile is delightfully mild, making them the perfect pairing for many bold fillings such as beans, cheese, and grilled vegetables.

Additionally, due to their relatively thin texture and diameter, corn tortillas are flexible enough to fold without breaking easily, so one can easily create a delicious stuffed quesadilla without the hassle of creating turnovers or holding the fillings in place while grilling.

Furthermore, they offer a healthier alternative than flour tortillas because they are naturally gluten-free and lower in carbohydrates.

Though both types of tortillas work well for this culinary preparation, corn tortillas are highly recommended to obtain an incredibly satisfying result.
