How do I keep the pasta from sticking to the bottom of the pot?

Since you’re browning the meat ahead of time, this will add a bit of grease to the pot to help the ingredients not stick. (Don’t forget to drain out the excess grease after cooking the meat, though!)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chuck/beef
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 (6 ounce) package of cut up sliced pepperoni - save a few whole ones for the top
  • 1 (16 ounce) box of elbow macaroni
  • 6 cups of water
  • 2 (14 ounce) jars of pizza sauce
  • 3 cups of Italian cheese blend

Instructions

  1. Use the saute mode on your Instant Pot and heat until hot. Add in the beef and onion and make sure the beef is browned. Drain off the grease. Deglaze the bottom by adding the water and scraping off the ingredients that are stuck using a wooden spoon. Once done, turn off/canvel the saute mode.
  2. Put the beef back into the pressure cooker and add in the pepperoni, salt, and macaroni. Pour on the pizza sauce but DO NOT stir.
  3. Put the lid on and set the valve to sealing. Put the pressure cooker to "manual/pressure cook" for 6 minutes of time. Once done, quick release when the cooking cycle is completed.
  4. Stir in two cups of shredded cheese. Top the dish with any leftover cheese and pepperoni. Put the lid back on to allow the cheese to melt.
