When should we start planning our family Halloween fun?

Start early enough to enjoy the excitement, not rush through it! A little planning now means a whole lot more fun (and fewer “boo-boos”) later.

Mid-September:

  • Start collecting craft supplies and treats for goody bags.
  • Make a family activity calendar for Halloween events and movie nights.

Early October:

  • Decorate the house — both inside and out!
  • Begin making or buying costumes.
  • Test out Halloween recipes or snacks for parties and school events.

Mid to Late October:

  • Enjoy family fun nights — carving pumpkins, telling spooky stories, and visiting local events.
  • Finalize any party plans or trick-or-treat routes.
