Why are they called pigs in a blanket?

Pigs in a blanket, a term that elicits fond memories of delicious, bite-sized treats, has an origin that complements its whimsical name. “Pigs” refers to the small sausages or hot dogs used as the primary ingredient. In contrast, “blanket” describes the pastry or dough that envelops them.

This culinary term likely evolved from the visual similarity between the sausages wrapped snugly in dough and the idea of pigs being cozily wrapped in a blanket to stay warm.

The name captures the dish’s playful nature and perfectly illustrates its simple yet delightful composition.

What are good dips for french fries?

The right dip can make all the difference when elevating the French fry. Classic options like ketchup and mayonnaise are always crowd-pleasers, offering a sweet, tangy, or creamy counterpoint to the crispy fries.

For those seeking something more adventurous, try dipping your fries in aioli, a garlic-infused mayo that adds a rich, savory flavor. Barbecue sauce brings a smoky, slightly spicy kick, while cheese sauce transforms fries into indulgent, gooey delights.

For a zesty twist, consider sriracha mayo or guacamole, which provides a fresh, creamy contrast. Each of these dips enhances the taste and adds a unique flair to your french fry experience.
