The food scene is a major part of the culture in South Carolina with up-and-coming chefs around every corner. Don’t forget to take a stroll down the beach and enjoy the ocean breeze after eating lunch at an oceanside cafe.

Shrimp and Grits 

Spicy sauteed shrimp piled neatly on top of creamy grits is a must-try at home. South Carolina is known for its shrimp and grits for a reason. This is one you definitely need to make from scratch. 

Collard Greens 

This green leafy vegetable is cooked down with bacon, apple cider vinegar, and spicy red pepper flakes. It’s a southern favorite that is easy to make at home. 

Fried Okra 

Fresh okra diced into one-inch pieces and fried is a delicious appetizer you can find in restaurants all over the state.
