BBQ and ribs are a Texas specialty. Texas is known for them not Indiana however the rest are.

That is actually inaccurate. Did you know that Indiana even has a BBQ Trail? Lots of states are known for BBQ and Ribs and each state's sauce is distinct - here in Alabama, we are known for our white barbecue sauce. It is pretty interesting research if you ever find yourself with the time. :-)
