Necessary Tools:

Making a DIY decorations for a baby shower really can be as simple or as complex as you’d like. To make these fun coconut tree centerpieces, I only needed a couple of tools to make this project (which is seriously one of the best ever).

Tips and Tricks:

For anyone with a craft room stocked with a Cricut or Silhouette, it’s time to call those onto the field from the dug-out, because if you have a cutting machine, that’s going to make assembling your shower decoration set so much easier. It’s an instant download, so you’ll be halfway done if you’re set to cut.

Just check out the quick and fast tutorial below to knock these out in just a few minutes. But if you’re stuck in the stands about what to use all these baby shower printables once you have them up to bat…Well, here’s some fun ideas:

  • Use the medium baseballs for cupcake toppers by taping two baseballs on either side of a cake pop with double-stick tape – turning plain cupcake treats into baseball treats!
  • Tape the baseball and mini “batter up!” pennant banner on the front of your centerpieces, or attach it to two chopsticks to pop on top of the baby shower cake.
  • Add a little handful of the baseball table scatter into each invitation envelope. Not as annoying as glitter, but still a fun pre-party favor.
  • Toss whatever baby shower favors you make into a catcher’s mitt with a ton of the table scatter as a fun decoration before passing out the favors.
  • Make your medium baseballs or the little pennants into bingo pieces for your baby shower game!

Cricut Cardstock Cutting Notes:

Also, I have a couple of notes to make cutting card stock on a cutting machine a little easier:

  • Start with a clean knife blade. Take a tip from me, cutting card stock with a dirty blade leads to messy cuts, so wipe it with a little alcohol before using it.
  • Secure the card stock firmly to the cutting mat everywhere–not just around the edges. The paper can pull up and get caught on the blade, tearing up your whole design.

Such a quick and fun way to make a centerpiece! I love these baseball themed baby shower centerpieces, they're fast and fun!

Materials

  • 1 - 6-inch Glass Fishbowl
  • 1 - 2-inch Squeeze Ball
  • White Acrylic Paint
  • Red Acrylic Paint
  • 1 - 5x7-inch Canvas Board
  • 1/2 Sheet Red, White, and Blue Tissue Paper
  • 1 - 8-inch Wood Dowel
  • Blue Curling Ribbon

Tools

  • Paintbrush
  • Craft Knife or Stout Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue
  • 1/4-inch Drill Bit and Drill, optional

Instructions

  1. Start by painting your squeeze balls white (if they're not already baseballs - if they are, you can skip this step). Allow the paint to dry completely, adding a second coat to full cover the paint color underneath. Once dry, paint the red stitches onto the ball. Allow that coat of paint to dry completely.
  2. Paint red stitching on the fishbowl. I used a red acrylic paint marker which worked really well for this, but it can be done with a paintbrush just as easily. Allow the paint to dry completely.
  3. Thread the squishy ball onto the dowel about halfway. I found it was easy to do this, but if you have trouble, you can drill a hole through the center of the ball.
  4. Cut the top two corners off the canvas board, at an equal distance from the corners. This creates your home plate. If the edge is ragged looking, use a small piece of sand paper to smooth it. Set aside.
  5. Layer the tissue paper as desired, then hot glue the dowel to the center of the tissue paper layers. Gently pull the tissue paper up around the dowel and tie it in place with the blue curling ribbon.
  6. Insert the tissue paper (with dowel) into the fish bowl and arrange the ribbon and tissue paper spilling out of the top.
  7. Hot glue the top of the exposed dowel to the back of the home plate. Allow the hot glue to cool completely. Then enjoy!
