This low-calorie snack is made by popping kernels of corn using hot air without the need for oil or butter. It is touted as a healthy snack option due to the lack of added ingredients, such as salt and butter, commonly found in microwave popcorn.
However, the nutritional value of air-popped popcorn depends on the preparation method and the quality of the kernels used. The quality of popcorn kernels is crucial in determining the level of nutrients and antioxidants it contains.

How do I store popped popcorn?
Firstly, it is crucial to ensure the popcorn is fully cooled down before storing it to avoid moisture buildup. Furthermore, the ideal storage container should be airtight, as exposure to air can cause the popcorn to become stale and lose its crunchiness.
Room temperature is the best place to store popped popcorn, away from direct sunlight or any heat sources that could alter its texture or flavor.
Finally, consuming the popcorn within a day or two is recommended to guarantee maximum freshness.

IngredientsΒ Β
- 1 bag of microwave popcorn
- 6 tablespoons salted butter diced
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ΒΌ Cup(s) sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
InstructionsΒ
- Put the butter into a pot on the stove. Turn on medium-low heat and stir until the butter melts and foams.

- Once the foam disappears and the butter gets a nutty smell, take the pot off the heat. (the coloring should be a golden brown but not black.)
- Stir in the vanilla extract. (there might be a bit of foam that forms during this.)
- While the butter cools slightly, mix the cinnamon and sugar in a different bowl.
- Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the top of the popped popcorn. (leave any dark brown specks or remains at the bottom of the pot.)
- Carefully fold the popcorn to coat. Sprinkle 1/2 of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the popcorn and stir carefully.
