Since my boys love this recipe, they’ll be patient for it to be ready. But once I pull it from the fridge, it’s game on!
How long does it take for this jello recipe to set up in the fridge?
Since it’s mixed with other ingredients, it doesn’t take as long as traditional jello. The main goal is to just get it chilled and cool so that can usually be done within an hour or two.

How do I serve Jello Salad Recipes?
There is a big debate as to whether this should be left with the dessert salads, or offered as a side dish. Funny thing is – I don’t think that people should have to choose! If you want to fill up a large bowl and have it for dessert, or should have it on a serving plate as a side dish option, go for it.
Is this the same recipe as pistachio fluff salad?
It’s not, but they’re all kind of similar. Other options that are in the same category would be ambrosia salad or Watergate salad as well. This is because many of these types of desserts use strawberry jello or green jello as their base and then add in the rest of the ingredients to go along with the gelatin mixture.
Some are a bit sweeter than others, and depending on the flavor of the jello, will have their own distinct tastes and flavors. For the most part, they will all have some sort of fruit in them like pear halves or pineapple bits or mandarin oranges. Some might even have a mixture of fruit cocktail in there as well.
Once the gelatin salad is created, you’ll find that there are actually a lot of different varieties of how this type of dessert salad can be created.
More Pineapple Recipes:
- 1 (20) ounce can crushed pineapple, drained with juices reserved
- 1 (3) ounce box lime gelatin
- 1 (8) ounce package cream cheese, softened
- 1 (8) ounce package Cool Whip
- Start by adding in the juices from the crushed pineapple into a small saucepan. Once that is done, whisk in the lime gelatin.
- Then, turn on the stove and heat over medium heat until boiling, and make certain that you're stirring constantly. When the mixture begins to boil, take and remove it from heat.
- Next, take the softened cream cheese and place it in a large bowl. Whisk in the hot lime mixture as soon as possible.
- Once that is done, take and place the cream cheese mixture into the refrigerator and chill for at least one hour, until the gelatin is set and firm.
- Then, it's time to add in the pineapple and Cool Whip and stir well to combine.
- Put back in the fridge and chill until it's ready to serve.
