Red White and Blue Snack Mix Recipe

When the weather gets hot, the last thing that I want to do is spend my time over a hot stove – and this is where this recipe comes into play! It’s a great way to make a simple snack that won’t heat the entire house.

My boys are huge fans of this type of recipe because it’s fast and easy, meaning they can start snacking immediately. I try to save as much as possible for later, but I fail every time.

You can also make this for parties, family reunions, and even a neighborhood get-together. Not only does it look fun and festive, but it’s delicious as well.

How do I store puppy chow to keep it fresh?

Storing Chex mix snacks can be challenging, but if done correctly, it can keep them fresh for an extended period.

The key to achieving this is taking appropriate measures to prevent the snacks’ exposure to air, moisture, and heat.

One of the most effective ways to achieve this is by using airtight containers or plastic resealable bags. These containers keep air and moisture out and protect the snacks from light and heat to prevent them from becoming stale.

It is also crucial to ensure the containers or bags are not overfilled to avoid influencing the snacks’ texture.

Additionally, keeping the Chex mix snacks in a cool and dry space can work wonders in maintaining their freshness.

Following these simple guidelines can help you extend the shelf life of your puppy chow mixture, making them delicious and crunchy every time you indulge in them.

Is puppy chow a Northern thing?

Puppy chow, or muddy buddies, is a popular snack made with Chex cereal, chocolate, peanut butter, and powdered sugar.

Its origins are unclear, but it is commonly associated with Midwestern states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois. However, there are also reports of puppy chow being enjoyed in southern states like Texas and Florida. It’s too good to limit to one part of the United States!

While it may have originated in the Midwest, it is difficult to conclude whether puppy chow is strictly northern.

Perhaps its popularity has spread beyond regional borders, making it a beloved snack across the country.
