This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Visit Gulf County for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Spending time with my family is always high on my priority list. Coming up with ideas that we can all enjoy, isn’t always an easy task.  I want my boys to have long last memories and traditions that they can pass down to their children someday. I want to make sure that the family activities we pick add value to our life and are activities we can do for years to come. I want us to get out of our comfort zone and add a little adventure to our life.

Visiting Gulf Country is the perfect destination for my active family. Not only is it fairly close to us but the Gulf offers so many activities, most of which we haven’t done before. Check out the Gulf County Adventure Guide for lots of fun ideas!

If you’ve never visited Gulf Country, I highly suggested you start doing some research. It’s a great destination. It’s not just a vacation destination, but a place to make memories with your family. It’s a place that you’ll take your kids and your kids will take their kids. It’s a tradition in the making. So, what should you do while in Gulf Country? I got you covered!

5 Must Do Fall Family Traditions

Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite Gulf Country activities and some that are still on my “to-do” list.

Fishing

I know that fishing might sound like something you can do anywhere, and you’d be right. But, there is just something spectacular about fishing on the gulf. Fishing on the gulf in the fall is perfect, the weather is starting to cool down, the sunsets are even more beautiful and it’s just a peaceful way to spend some time with your family.

Turtle Treasure Hunt

Have you ever been on a turtle treasure hunt? Personally, I think fall is the best time to go on a turtle treasure hunt. You might even see signs of baby turtles hatching. How cool is that? Think about the learning experience this would give your children, especially if you homeschool. Keep in mind that there are posts and caution tape around the nest so people know to stay away. We can continue to get new nests from May through early to mid Sept.

Watch the Sunset

There is something about sitting on the beach with my family watching the sunset that just makes me happy. Every time we go to the gulf, I try to make sure we get in at least one sunset. It’s our time to unwind and get in some great quality time together. This is definitely a tradition I hope my boys carry on with their families someday.

Shark Fishing Adventure

Shark fishing is something that is high on our wish list of gulf activities. Scary and exciting all at the same time!  The 60 ft, 44 passenger boat leaves at 5pm and comes back around 8pm, and is very safe for kids. You put your hook in the water and can catch up to an 8 ft tiger shark, get your picture taken and release the shark at the end!

Horseback Riding

Horseback riding on the beach? Sounds amazing to me! What a wonderful change from walking or driving in a car. Go at sunrise or sunset and best of all this activity is great for kids of all ages, so the whole family can join in on the adventure.
