Copycat Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Ice Cream

The addition of the heavy cream that you’re going to whisk to combine is what creates the creamy ice cream base. You’re going to want to continue stirring constantly until smooth so that once you add the cream and vanilla, the milk mixture is going to turn into that soft-serve texture that you love. Reading in less than 30 minutes of time, this homemade ice cream recipe is the best.

Everyone knows that Ben and Jerry’s makes an awesome ice cream but who says that you can’t make it taste just like it or dare I say – taste even better than the original? My boys love this copycat ice cream recipe because it’s loaded with flavor, taste, and is so good to enjoy! I like to let it get more to room temperature once I freeze it the first time because I prefer my ice cream to be a bit more melted when I’m eating it.

Copycat Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Ice Cream

Looking for an easy recipe that makes the perfect ice cream? This is the one!

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup of sugar

Instructions

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler with hot water until smooth. Add the milk slowly, whisking to combine. Take off the heat and it cools down to room temp.

Mix in the eggs with a mixer until a light and foamy texture happens. This should take about 1 minute of time. Add the sugar slowly and mix.

Blend in the vanilla, cream, and salt. Stir in the chocolate to the cream mixture that you just made.

Put into an ice cream maker and freeze according to the ice cream maker instructions.

If you want harder ice cream, you can then put it into a freezer-safe container.
