As long as the apples are tender, any type will work. We really like using Gala apples but if you want it to be a bit more tart, Granny Smith Apples are good, too.

With apples, you can easily cook the apples any way that you want. Some people like them a bit mushy while others like them to be firm. Either way, it’s totally up to you.
More Cinnamon Recipes:
- 3 T. unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for greasing)
- 2 large apples, peeled and diced
- 2 t. ground cinnamon
- 3 T. pure maple syrup, divided
- 3/4 c. almond flour
1. Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees and greasing a small baking dish.
2. Next, take the apples and toss them with cinnamon and about a tablespoon of the maple syrup. One done, take and pour into the baking dish. Spread it into a layer that is even.
3. Grab a smaller bowl and mix together the melted butter, almond flour, and the rest of the maple syrup. Stir and then spread over the apples.
4. Take the baking dish and put it in the oven. Cook until the top is golden brown and the apples are feeling tender. This will take about 25 minutes or so. Once done, take out of the oven and let cool.
