I love these simple Rae Dunn inspired soup bowls. They’re so easy and fun, but also great for a beginner Cricut craft. Plus, I get super cute soup bowls for the winter soup season!

Back to these adorable bowls, though. Can you imagine that I made these in about 20 minutes?! Yeah–and they did need to cure for about 72 hours to let the vinyl set, but that was no problem.

They make perfect little gifts for the holiday season, and would be killer fun if you’re serving a soup at Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. I mean, can you imagine a little army of these soup bowls for your friends and family?!

So cute.

What You Need to Make Rae Dunn Inspired Soup Bowls:

The following supplies for these DIY Rae Dunn inspired soup bowls are affiliate links straight from the Cricut shop because they may be a bit hard to find in your normal store.  I wanted you to be able to see exactly which things we are using to make Rae Dunn soup bowls.

• White soup mugs
• Black craft vinyl
• Cricut Machine
• Transfer Paper

Certainly, you can use any font you want, but, for my DIY Rae Dunn soup bowls, I wanted a Rae Dunn-ish font so I used the Skinny font from DaFont.

How to Make Rae Dunn Inspired Soup Bowls:

Wash your mugs before you start in order to remove any fingerprints, oils or dust that could possibly interfere with adhering the vinyl.

Just choose your font, download it and then upload the font into Cricut Design Space.

Type out what you want on your soup mugs and cut the words to fit in the space you want.

If you’re using heat transfer vinyl, be sure to mirror the image or you’ll waste vinyl–and skip the whole transfer paper step.

Another trick I have learned, while making this soup bowl Cricut craft, is to attach the letters (paperclip button in the lower righthand corner of Design Space) and that will hold them together when you place them on the actual vinyl so you don’t have to place each letter.

After your machine is done cutting, peel off the excess vinyl (weed it) and pick up your words with transfer paper, lining up the letters on the lines, so you have a guideline and know the lettering will be straight.

Line the lettering under the lip of the mug using the gridlines of the transfer paper then press the transfer paper and lettering into place on the surface of the mugs with your scraper tool.

Since this is a rounded blank, you will want to work from the center outward.

Carefully peel the transfer paper off the soup mugs, working carefully to keep the vinyl down while you peel up.
