Keto Sesame Chicken Recipe

When it comes to a simple chicken recipe, it doesn’t get much better than this. The ingredients are easy, the flavor is powerful, and the chicken is nice and juicy.

You only need a pile of cauliflower rice or steamed vegetables; everyone will be chowing down quickly.

This dish would also be delicious to serve during holidays or as a fun way to feed a crowd. It’s versatile with flavor and taste – and fast and simple!

How do I know that the chicken is fully cooked?

The answer lies in the internal temperature of the meat. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) advises that you should cook chicken to an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) to ensure it is safe to eat.

To measure this temperature, use a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the chicken, making sure not to touch the bone.

When the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C), your chicken is fully cooked and safe to eat. However, remember that relying solely on the color of the meat or juices is not an accurate method to determine if your chicken is fully cooked.

By using a meat thermometer, you can ensure that your poultry is safe and delicious.

How do I store leftover cooked chicken?

Storing leftover cooked chicken properly is essential to maintaining food safety and preventing the spread of foodborne illnesses.

One effective storage method involves refrigeration, whereby the chicken is placed in an airtight container and kept in the refrigerator at a temperature of 40°F or below.

Additionally, it is recommended that the chicken be consumed within 3-4 days of preparation.

Another storage method, freezing, involves placing the chicken in a freezer-safe container and storing it at a temperature of 0°F or below. Though the chicken may remain safe when stored at this temperature, it should be consumed within 4 months to ensure optimal quality.

This Keto Sesame Chicken Recipe is a fun and straightforward dinner dish. Check out the easy step-by-step directions below!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs Boneless skinless chicken breast, bite-sized pieces
  • ½ tbsp Xanthan gum
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce or you can use coconut aminos
  • 2 tbsp Swerve brown sugar substitute
  • 1 tsp Rice cooking wine
  • 2 tsp Ginger paste
  • 2 tsp Minced garlic
  • 2 tsp Sesame oil divided
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • Broccoli (this can be optional)
  • Sesame seeds and fresh chopped green onions - garnish

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Add the salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Put the chicken pieces into a sealable plastic bag, and add 1/2 T of the Xanthan gum. Seal the bag and shake.
  3. Put 1 T of olive oil and 1 tsp of sesame oil into a skillet and heat over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the chicken pieces to the hot skillet. Don't overcrowd the skillet. This means that you might have to cook the chicken in a couple of batches.
  5. Let the chicken sit for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Cook until done and seared well. The outside of the chicken should be a bit crispy.
  6. As the chicken is cooking, add the brown sugar substitute, soy sauce, rice cooking wine, ginger paste, minced garlic, and 1 tsp of sesame oil to a bowl. Whisk.
  7. Add a small pot of water to the stove and bring to a boil. Blanch the broccoli for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Drain the cooked broccoli and put it into the skillet with the chicken.
  9. Pour the sauce mixture over the top and cook for 1-2 minutes. Stirring to combine.
  10. Serve and add the optional garnishes.
