Washington state is the uppermost northwestern state in the United States. Olympic National Park, Mount Rainier, and Mount Saint Helens define its well-known attractions.

The most populous city is Seattle, where you can find the Space Needle and a bustling city known for its art and food cultures.

These ten food categories include three recipes from notable professional chefs and home chefs, with the recipe testing and dish development done for you. All you need to do is enjoy the wonderful combinations that make these dishes uniquely Washington.

Smoked Salmon

Fresh salmon is smoked and either served thinly sliced or whole. Seafood from the Pacific coast is one of Washington’s main food groups and salmon is no exception.

2. Oyster Stew

To create this savory stew, start by combining shucked oysters, onions, garlic, milk, parsley, and a blend of seasonings.

Ideally, use the freshest oysters available to enhance the flavor; however, if fresh oysters are unavailable, you can substitute with frozen ones without sacrificing much taste.

As you savor each warm, comforting bowl, you’ll find that this delightful stew becomes a perfect companion on any chilly day.

3. Macaroni and Cheese

To craft this cheesy delight, start by cooking elbow pasta to perfection. Then, mix in a variety of cheeses to create a rich, creamy sauce.

You can also add some meat or vegetables for extra flavor and nutrition. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top to create a delightful crunch after combining everything.

Finally, bake the dish until golden and bubbly, ensuring every bite is irresistibly delicious.

4. Clam Chowder

Begin by preparing a hearty clam chowder, starting with cooking bacon until crispy. Next, add garlic, onions, and thyme to infuse rich flavors.

As you proceed, pour in milk and stock, then introduce clams, potatoes, and an extra splash of milk for creaminess.

Don’t forget to sprinkle parsley and a medley of seasonings for that perfect taste.

Not only is this dish incredibly easy to make, but each spoonful promises to be oh-so-delicious, making it a comforting choice for any meal.

Molten Chocolate Cake

Chocolate lava cake is made by slightly underbaking a small cake. When the middle is broken open, the chocolate oozes out and is delightfully decadent. It’s best served with strawberries and vanilla ice cream.

7. Apple Cider Donuts

Doughnuts made with apple cider and baked are cake-like and a famous Washington recipe. They are easy to make at home with a donut pan in the oven.

8. Salmon Sandwich

Grilled or pan-seared salmon stacked between toasted ciabatta bread, lettuce, tomato, and spread with a remoulade or creamy mayo. This sandwich is best served with coleslaw and a side salad.

9. Steamed Mussels
