Fried Chicken

Fried chicken is a staple food in Georgia. There are many different techniques to get that perfect crispy outside and moist chicken inside.

Chicken and Dumplings

Hearty chicken soup topping with biscuit dough and then baked in the oven make for delicious chicken and dumplings. 

        

 

Brunswick Stew

Brunswick stew is commonly made with a tomato base, vegetables, meat, and beans. It can be made with local game such as possum or squirrel, however, you can also make it with chicken or pork.

Cornbread Cake

Cornbread cake is a cross between classic cornbread and a fluffy cake and is tasty when covered with a vanilla frosting. 

Peach Cobbler

 Peaches are a natural resource of Georgia and are used in drinks, pies, and paired with meat. They are juicy and delicious in peach cobblers. 

Pecan Pie

Pecans are grown in Georgia and can be found in pecan pies on almost every restaurant’s dessert menu. 

Boiled Peanuts

Boiled peanuts are bought in bags and eaten as a snack all over the state. You can add seasonings like salt, cajun flavors, or liquid smoke to make them even more flavorful.

Barbeque Ribs

Barbecue food of all kinds is popular all over the state, but ribs have a special place in Georgian hearts. 

Chicken Biscuit

Fried chicken sandwiched between two halves of a biscuit is something you can find all over the state. The chicken is usually topped with crunchy pickles and hot sauce. 

Pralines 

Pralines are candies popular in the south. Pecans coated in evaporated milk, sugar, butter, vanilla, and heavy whipping cream. Yum!

  1. I think I’ve eaten a million pecan pies in my lifetime. I’m not really sure how many that is, but it’s a lot.
