How do you keep cotton candy from melting on cupcakes?
If you’ve ever tried to put cotton candy on top of your cupcakes, you might have experienced some difficulty keeping it from melting. Fortunately, you can try a few tricks to ensure your cotton candy remains fluffy and beautiful on top of your cupcakes.
One option is to keep the cotton candy in a cool place until it is time to add it to your cupcakes.
You could also try placing your cupcakes in the refrigerator or freezer for a short period to help keep the cotton candy from melting.
Additionally, you might want to consider adding a small amount of frosting to the top of your cupcakes before adding the cotton candy.
This can help to keep the cotton candy in place and prevent it from getting too warm.
For this recipe, I don’t put the cotton candy on top of the cupcake, so if you want to do that instead, follow the simple tips above.

What do you use cotton candy extract for?
Cotton candy extract is a wonderfully versatile flavoring that can be used in various ways. For those with a sweet tooth, it can be added to baked goods such as cookies, cakes, and cupcakes to give them a deliciously sugary twist.
It can also create unique and exciting cocktails, milkshakes, and smoothies.
Additionally, cotton candy extract can be combined with other flavors to create tasty and unexpected flavor combinations – think cotton candy and raspberry or cotton candy and chocolate.

Cotton Candy Cupcakes Recipe
Don't miss out on this Cotton Candy Cupcakes Recipe! It's a fun way to have a sweet treat topped with edible glitter!
Ingredients
- 1 15.25-ounce white cake mix
- 1 ¼ cups water
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 4 egg whites
- 1-3.3-ounce box of white cheesecake pudding
- Cotton Candy Flavoring
- Edible glitter
Frosting Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 sticks softened salted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 tablespoon sour cream
- 3-4 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
- Cotton Candy Flavor
- Blue and pink gel food coloring
- Cotton candy (this can be optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line the cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
- Add the pudding and cake mix into a bowl. Mix with a hand mixer and add water, oil, egg whites, and sour cream. Mix on medium until combined.
- Separate the batter evenly between two bowls. Add pink food coloring to one and blue to the other.
- Alternate the colored batter into the cupcake liners until they are 2/3 full. Put the pan in the oven and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cupcakes cool down entirely before adding the frosting.
- To make the frosting, cream the butter for two minutes until fluffy and light. Mix in the vanilla and cotton candy flavoring. (start with 1-2 drops as this is strong)
- Slowly mix the powdered sugar one cup at a time, alternating with 1 tablespoon of the half and half and 1 tablespoon of the sour cream. (if you want to thicken the frosting at this point, you can add some extra powdered sugar)
- Divide the homemade frosting evenly between three bowls and add blue food coloring to one, pink to another, and leave the last bowl without any color added.
- Add each colored frosting into a small piping bag, cut the tips off, and insert them all into one large piping bag.
- Before you start to add the frosting to the top of the cupcakes, squeeze a bit out onto a plate to get all the colors flowing together. Then frost the cupcakes, garnish them with edible glitter, and cotton candy if you want!
