- 1 pound ground beef

- 15 ounces Pinto beans drained and rinsed
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
Instructions
- Turn to stove to medium heat. Add oil to a cast-iron skillet.
- Once the pan is hot, add the onion and cook for two minutes until lightly golden and soft. Remove from the skillet and put into a small bowl.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. This will take about 8 minutes or so.
- Once it's fully cooked, add the onions and minced garlic. Cook for two minutes then add the crushed tomatoes and drained beans. Stir well.
- Add the seasonings and stir. Cook the mixture as you're preparing the mashed potatoes.
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- Let the mashed potatoes cool, then put into a piping bag with a star trip.
- Take the cast iron pan off the stove, pipe the mashed potatoes on top of the beef mixture, covering the entire top with little star dollops.
- Put the pan in the oven for 15-20 minutes. Bake until the potatoes are golden.
