What is the best oil to use for frying food?

Choosing the right oil for frying can make all the difference in the taste and healthiness of your meal. While there are many oils, some are better suited for high-heat cooking than others.

For example, oils high in saturated fats like coconut oil and palm oil, have high smoke points, making them great for frying.

On the other hand, oils with low smoke points, like olive oil and flaxseed oil, can break down and become rancid when exposed to high heat, resulting in a less-than-ideal taste and a loss of health benefits.

Ultimately, the best oil for frying food will depend on the individual’s taste preferences and nutritional goals.

How do I seal wontons before cooking them?

Wontons are an incredibly popular and delicious delicacy, but they can be tricky to prepare, especially when sealing them.

To seal a wonton, you should first dampen the edges of the wrapper with a small amount of water or egg wash.

Once the edges are moistened, you can fold the wonton over into a triangle or rectangle shape, pressing the edges together to ensure they are firmly sealed.

It’s essential to make sure there is no air trapped inside the wonton, as this can cause it to burst while cooking.

Sealing wontons may require a bit of practice to perfect, but with a little patience and attention to detail, you’ll be sure to create delicious and perfectly sealed wontons every time.

This Smores Wontons Recipe is a fun twist on dessert! Full of gooey chocolate flavor!

Ingredients

  • 32 Wonton Wrappers
  • 1 cup Mini Marshmallows (about 96)
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate Chips (about 96)
  • Water, as needed
  • 4 cups Oil

Instructions

  1. Put the wonton wrappers on a cutting board. For the ones you aren't filling right away, let a wet paper towel over them to keep them from drying out.
  2. Add a few marshmallows and chocolate chips to the middle of each wonton wrapper.
  3. Brush the edges of the wrapper with some water and then fold into a triangle shape. Press to seal the edges and remove excess air.
  4. Brush the two edges of the longer side of the triangle with water and then fold them over each other right above the center.
  5. Press the center of the wonton upwards to form a crease.
  6. Repeat with all the wrappers.
  7. Place the oil into a dutch oven and heat to 300 degrees.
  8. Fry the filled wrappers 3-4 until golden, flipping them halfway through. This will take about 3 minutes per batch.
  9. Repeat until all are fried.
