The fun part about this pumpkin activity is that there really aren’t any set rules. It’s all about creativity and fun!

Spending the whole day full of pumpin fun is what it’s all about! Your little learner is going to be able to recognize the letter P in no time!
How do I help my child understand uppercase and lowercase letter learning?
The goal isn’t perfection right away—it’s exposure, repetition, and making it fun. Over time, your child will see uppercase as “big letters for beginnings” and lowercase as “the letters we use most of the time.
Having a pumpkin theme for letter P learning is the perfect example of that!

It’s crazy simple! Grab the sharpie, and draw uppercase and lowercase letter P’s on the pumpkins. (or have the kids do it to work on their writing skills!)
Then, have the kids paint those letter P’s using some paint and their paintbrush.
They’ll be working on visual learning, as well as fine motor skills. Plus, when they’re done, they’ll have a super cute painted pumpkin to show off!
If you don’t want to paint the letter P on the pumpkins, then just have the kids paint the pumpkins, and then talk about all the letter P words that you can see.

Lots of great homeschooling activities!
My 4 year old still likes painting the pumpkins but my 8 year old is ready to do the carving this year.
This post made me laugh because my daughter just said that she doesn’t want to paint our pumpkin this year. We have to carve it!
Hey Lisa, Thanks for stopping by — did the kids like painting pumpkins at your house? We accidentally left ours out on the picnic table overnight and the rain washed all the paint away! The kids didn’t seem to care though — they got to do the project again!
Hey Lindsay, Thanks for stopping by. We’ve only done painting with the kids so far, but my oldest is 2.5 this year, so we might give carving a try. We’ll see!!
We have our kids paint pumpkins too!
I used to love painting pumpkins as a child. I still enjoy carving them. Good way to cover the letter and seasonal stuff.
