Octopus Cupcakes Recipe

Everyone loves themed treats. I especially love the blue frosting that I generously apply to the tops. There has to be enough water for the Octopus, right? And then using Twizzlers for the legs? Literally the cutest cupcake idea, ever. Have then long and dangly and hanging down from the center of the cupcake.

Even though my kids aren’t really kids anymore, they still get a kick out of this cupcake recipe. I love to surprise them every once in a while with this fun treat, and they show their appreciation by gobbling them all up!

What else can you use for cupcake toppings?

Since these cupcakes are supposed to look like an octopus, think in those terms. Gummy worms would be another really fun way to make the legs for this sweet treat OR you could always just pipe on some extra frosting as legs as well.

Can you vary up the color of the frosting?

If you can find blue food coloring, that is the best so that it looks like water. You can also add food coloring to the white frosting to make it turn blue, too.

Create adorable Octopus Cupcakes with blue frosting, candy eyes, and Twizzlers for octopus legs—perfect for ocean-themed parties! These fun and easy-to-make treats are sure to delight both kids and adults at your next celebration.

Ingredients

  • 6 Baked Cupcakes - need to be unfrosted
  • 1 container of Blue Frosting
  • 1 package of Twizzlers Pull N’ Peel Licorice
  • 6 Marshmallows (large in size)
  • 8 ounces of candy melts, Purple
  • 12 Edible Candy Eyes

Instructions

  1. Melt the candy melts in a small bowl according to the directions on the package.
  2. Put a toothpick into the middle of the marshmallow and dip it into the melted chocolate. Cover completely. Put it on parchment paper once done and take out the toothpick. Repeat with all marshmallows.
  3. Add two candy eyes to the chocolate marshmallow before it hardens.
  4. Put blue frosting on top of the cupcakes with more in the middle to cause a sloped look. Use a knife to make swirls that look like water.
  5. Cut a piece of licorice into 4 pieces. You'll need 48 strands of the pull-n-peel for this recipe.
  6. Lay the licorice legs on the top of the cupcakes so that they drape a bit.
  7. Put the marshmallow "head" on top in the center and press down.
