Vermont leads as the major maple syrup producer in the United States. Additionally, it offers miles of mountains. These mountains are perfect for summer hiking and winter skiing. Although Vermont is small and sparsely populated, it boasts beautiful scenery.

These ten food categories include three recipes from notable professional chefs and home chefs, with the recipe testing and dish development done for you. All you need to do is enjoy the wonderful combinations that make these dishes uniquely Vermont.

Apple Pie 

Fresh apples are grown in Vermont and are often made into pie. People in Vermont say that it’s not apple pie without also serving a wedge of sharp white cheddar or parmesan cheese.  

Chicken Pot Pie 

This meat and vegetable pie is creamy and delicious. It’s made with shredded chicken, onions, carrots, celery, peas, chicken broth, and heavy cream. After this mixture thickens, you’ll add it to a pie dish and top it with pie dough.

Gravy Fries 

Poutine is popular in Canada and is made with french fries topped with gravy. These recipes have some delicious variations that you can try at home.  

Maple Cream Pie  

This creamy pie is made with maple syrup, half and half, eggs, brown sugar, salt, vanilla, and butter. Top it with homemade maple whipped cream. 

Maple Baked Beans 

These baked beans include bacon, onions, garlic, tomato paste, white vinegar, brown sugar, and beans. When baked, the ingredients combine beautifully. As a result, they create a nice mellow flavor.

Tourtiere 

This meat pie includes potatoes, onions, garlic, ground beef, ground pork, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and seasonings. Then, they top it with pie dough. Finally, they bake it until golden brown.

Cider Donuts 

Baked donuts made with apples and coated in sugar are delicious bites of sugary goodness. 

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie 

Rhubarb is a vegetable that can’t be eaten raw and has a tart flavor. It’s delicious with other, sweeter fruit and baked in pies and is a famous Vermont recipe. 

Fry Bread with powdered sugar 

This bread dough is fried in oil and puffs up into savory discs like tortillas. People in Utah like to top it with whipped butter, cinnamon sugar, or powdered sugar.
