Cream Soda Cupcakes Recipe
There aren’t many cupcakes out there that I can have done and ready in 30 minutes, but this is one of them. I love using a boxed cake mix because it really does speed up the prepping process!
My boys are all about cupcakes and soda, so this dessert recipe is really a no-brainer for me to make. I also love that I get to make my own buttercream frosting as well! When it comes time to frost the cupcakes, the boys are eager to jump in and help!
Do I need a stand mixer to make these cupcakes?
You’re going to be using the mixer on low speed and medium speed, so it’s good to have it handy. However, if you don’t have a mixer, it’s not a deal-breaker. You can mix by hand, you’ll just have to mix a little bit longer that way.

Nope, not at all! You can store leftover cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature. For best results, eat within 2-3 days of storage.

Cream Soda Cupcakes Recipe
This Cream Soda Cupcakes Recipe has such a fun and delicious flavor!
Ingredients
- 1 cup cream soda
- 1 box white cake mix
For the buttercream frosting:
- 2 cups cream soda
- 1 cup butter
- 3-4 cups powdered icing sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 374 degrees. Add the cupcake liners to your cupcake pan.
- Add two cups of cream soda to a saucepan on high heat. Bring to a bowl and then reduce to medium and let simmer until it's reduced to about 1/2 cup. Pour into a mason jar and then put it in the fridge to cool.
- Grab a mixing bowl and beat 1 cup of cream soda and white cake mix for 2 minutes.
- Add the batter to the liners, 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes.
- Let the cupcakes cool.
- To make the frosting, put the butter and the icing sugar in a bowl and beat for two minutes.
Add 2 T of the cooled cream soda syrup from the fridge then taste and add more as needed. - Put the frosting in a piping bag with a tip or snip off the corner to squeeze out.
- Add the frosting to each cupcake. You can smooth it with a spatula if you'd like.
- Add a cut straw to each cupcake.
