Is a Kulich and Russian Easter Bread the same?

Easter is a particular time for many cultures, and each celebrates it in different but unique ways. A great example of this is the delicious bread that is enjoyed during this holy season.

Easter bread is known as kulich in Russia, while some other cultures call it Russian Easter bread. The truth is, they are the same!

This flavorful sweet bread is traditionally made with raisins and topped with icing sugar or even frosting in some instances. It’s usually round in shape, representing spiritual renewal and eternity, an essential theme in celebrating Easter.

Kulich can be made at home or bought in most major stores across Russia.

However you make it, one thing’s for sure – it’s a delightful treat no matter where you celebrate Easter!

What is the best way to store Easter bread?

Storing Easter bread can be tricky because the dough is so light and fluffy that it can go stale quickly.

The best way to store it for maximum freshness is to wrap it in plastic, place it in an airtight container, and store it in the refrigerator. This will ensure the Easter bread stays moist and delicious.

Freezing is another great option if you do not plan on eating all of your Easter bread right away. Make sure to wrap each piece in plastic and place them in a resealable bag before placing them in the freezer.

When ready to eat, thaw out the desired pieces overnight in the refrigerator before serving – they will taste just as if they were made fresh!

  7. Divide the bread dough into fourths.
  8. Place each fourth into a bread mold and then place the molds full of dough on a baking sheet.
  9. Place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. After the bread is cooked and dried, you can remove the paper molds.
  10. Mix the egg whites with 1/2 cup of sugar to make the icing. Whisk on medium speed and slowly add the rest of the sugar, 1/2 cup at a time. (if too thick, add a few drops of water)
  11. Once the bread is cooled, pour the icing over the top and add the sprinkles.
