You know that I have to ask the biggest question surrounding brownie desserts. Are you an edge fan, or do you prefer to eat the brownies that are smack dab in the middle?

I go back and forth. Because the truth is, I’ll never turn down any piece of brownie, no matter where it’s located.

PB Swirl Brownies Recipe

Since you will use a brownie mix for this dessert, it reduces the prep time and work needed. Dessert mixes are one of my favorite ways to “cut down” on the steps needed. And no one ever knows the difference!

I’ve made all sorts of brownie recipes, from scratch to ones made with mixes, and my boys never ask me what I’ve done differently, which leads me to believe that they can’t tell the difference.

If they can’t tell the difference, brownie mixes become a simple way to prep, bake, and eat. I love all the varieties at the store, which give many great options.

How do I know when brownies are done baking?

Knowing when brownies have finished baking can be challenging, yet possible if a few steps are followed.

Upon pulling them out of the oven, a visual inspection of the brownies can determine whether or not they are done. The top should be slightly firm and dull in color, and a crust may have formed around the edges.

Furthermore, inserting a toothpick into the center should come out with only a few moist crumbs. If wet batter sticks to it upon removing, then additional time in the oven is needed.

Lastly, keeping track of how long your recipe requires in the oven and at what temperature can also aid in correctly judging when your brownies are finished baking.

How do I store baked brownies?

Storing baked brownies is one of the most important steps in ensuring they maintain their flavor and texture over time.

Baked brownies should always be stored in an airtight container, or wrapped tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, to keep out moisture and any other contaminants that could affect the taste or texture.

Additionally, cooled brownies should not be left uncovered at room temperature for long periods, as this can lead to a dry product. Brownies should ideally be refrigerated for up to a week and can also be frozen for up to three months.

When freezing, it is important to ensure the brownies are completely cool before covering them with plastic wrap and storing them in an airtight container.
