Since you will use a brownie mix for this dessert, it reduces the prep time and work needed. Dessert mixes are one of my favorite ways to “cut down” on the steps needed. And no one ever knows the difference!

I’ve made all sorts of brownie recipes, from scratch to ones made with mixes, and my boys never ask me what I’ve done differently, which leads me to believe that they can’t tell the difference.

If they can’t tell the difference, brownie mixes become a simple way to prep, bake, and eat. I love all the varieties at the store, which give many great options.

How do I know when brownies are done baking?

Follow a few steps to determine when your brownies are done. First, visually inspect them when you pull them out of the oven. The top should be slightly firm and dull in color, with a crust forming around the edges.

Next, insert a toothpick into the center. It should come out with only a few moist crumbs. If wet batter sticks to it, give the brownies more time in the oven.

Lastly, track the baking time and temperature to help judge when your brownies are perfectly baked.

How do I store baked brownies?

Storing baked brownies is one of the most important steps in ensuring they maintain their flavor and texture over time.

Always store baked brownies in an airtight container or wrap them tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil to keep out moisture and contaminants that could affect their taste or texture.

Additionally, don’t leave cooled brownies uncovered at room temperature for long, as they can dry out. Ideally, refrigerate brownies for up to a week or freeze them for up to three months.

When freezing this Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies Recipe, it is important to ensure the brownies are completely cool before covering them with plastic wrap and storing them in an airtight container.
