How to Transfer a Pattern to Your Pumpkin
Printing the pattern is the easy part. Getting it onto a round pumpkin takes a few simple steps.
Would you like to save this?
- Resize and print. Scale the pattern so it fits the smoothest side of your pumpkin with room to spare.
- Cut the lid and clean it out. Cut the lid at an angle so it does not fall in, then scrape the inside wall where you will carve until it is about an inch thick.
- Tape the pattern on. Snip the paper edges in a few spots so it lies flat against the curve.
- Poke the outline. Use a poker tool or a pushpin to punch dots along every line, about an eighth of an inch apart.
- Remove the paper and carve. Connect the dots with a small serrated saw, working from the center of the design outward.
