It’s important to handle the dough with care, gently folding and kneading the ingredients until they come together in a cohesive, crumbly mixture.
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, but with a little practice and plenty of experimentation, you’ll be well on your way to creating the perfect batch of scones.

- 2 ¾ cup all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons white granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted cold and cubed butter
- ½ cup canned pumpkin puree
- 3 ½ tablespoons buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon half and half
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons half and half
Pumpkin Glaze Ingredients:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
- ⅛ teaspoon ginger
- ½ tablespoon half and half
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Add parchment paper to a baking sheet.
- Mix the salt, white sugars, baking powder, baking soda, and spices together in a bowl, using a whisk.
- Add the cubed butter and blend with a fork or pastry cutter. The butter needs to be crumbly and pea-sized.
- In a different bowl, add the egg, pumpkin puree, vanilla, honey, and buttermilk. Whisk.
- Go back to the bowl with the dry ingredients and make a well in the middle. Pour the wet pumpkin mixture into the well.
- Fold together until a dough has formed.
- Place the dough onto a clean surface, but don't need it. Simply form the dough into a round disc and flatten it lightly.
- Cut the disc into 6 triangle shapes.
- Place each scone onto the baking sheet and brush each piece with half and half.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 13-15 minutes or until browned lightly on top.
- Take out of the oven and let the scones cool for about 5 minutes or so.
- To make the glaze, mix the half and half and powder sugar in a bowl. Whisk.
- In a different bowl, make the pumpkin drizzle by adding the powder sugar, and spices to a different bowl.
- Once the scones are cooled down, glaze with the vanilla glaze.
- Then, drizzle the pumpkin glaze on top.
- Let the glaze harden and enjoy!
