How to Use Essential Oils at the Beach

Essential oils should always be used with a carrier oil. This will help dilute the essential oil and make it safe for use. Carrier oils include:

  • coconut oil
  • almond oil
  • jojoba oil

These oils should only be used topically.

Always consult a health professional if you are pregnant or using essential oils on young children.

While these oils mentioned above are not known to cause sensitivity in the sun, you should still use caution once applied and avoid sunlight.

  1. I love tea-tree oil for preventing bug bites and I find peppermint awesome when it comes to migraines. Don’t think I’d have thought to take them to the beach though! 🙂

Lavender is apparently good for sunburn too but I’ve never tried it personally.
