What dipping sauce pairs well with baked cheese balls?
A classic marinara sauce offers a tangy and slightly sweet contrast to the rich, savory flavor of the cheese balls, making each bite a harmonious blend of textures and tastes.
For those who prefer a bit of heat, a spicy sriracha mayo adds a creamy yet fiery kick that pairs perfectly with the crispy exterior and gooey interior of the cheese balls. If you’re looking for something more sophisticated, a honey mustard sauce provides a delightful balance of sweetness and acidity, complementing the cheese without overpowering it.
No matter which sauce you choose, the key is to find a flavor profile that accentuates the deliciousness of the baked cheese balls, making them an irresistible treat for any occasion.

Baked Cheese Balls Recipe
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 Cup(s) of whole wheat flour
- 4 Tablespoons of soft butter
- ¾ Cup(s) of shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ Cup(s) of Romano cheese
- 1 egg yolk
- ¼ Cup(s) of olive oil
- Dash of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a bowl, mix all the ingredients and blend well. Make a dough ball.
- On a floured surface, roll the ball with a rolling pin as if you were making a pie crust. Fold it in on itself several times and knead. It should feel soft and a bit greasy.
- Let it rest for 5 minutes and then pinch off pieces and roll into balls. Try to keep the size of the balls about the same so that they will bake in the same amount of time.
- Before placing in the oven, sprinkle a little bit of salt over the tops of the balls.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until they are brown and bubbling. Cool on a rack or some waxed paper.
