Necessary Materials to Make Unicorn Centerpiece for a Baby Shower:
It seems like the list of materials is kind of long, but really, it’s just a few things–and some you might already have. To make these easy DIY unicorn centerpieces, I only needed three things:
- Quality Card Stock Paper
- Free Printable for the Unicorns (below)
- Pink and Blue Ribbons
- Pink and Blue Tissue Paper
- Pink and Blue Faux Flowers
- 2-inch Craft Foam Cones
- Bamboo Skewer Sticks
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue
Oh, and my Cricut and the light grip mat. I needed that, too.

Necessary Tools:
Making a fun unicorn centerpiece doesn’t have to be a big effort–it really can be super simple. I only needed just a couple of tools to make this craft one I love.
- Cricut Explore Air 2 or Cricut Maker
- Desktop Printer
Basically, beyond those two major tools, you’re looking at needing some scissors to cut your tissue paper and a hot glue gun. Seriously easy.
Tips and Tricks:
If you’re having a couple of common problems, I probably ran into them, too. So, I’ve put my thoughts down so you don’t have to stumble around in the dark like I did.
- Use hot glue, not a glue stick, to attach your unicorn to the bamboo skewers–the hot glue will last, the glue stick will fail you in the middle of the baby shower.
- If your centerpiece falls over, you’ve put too much flower/ribbon/unicorn on top. So, easy fix: hot glue your centerpiece to a wood round!
- Sometimes, if you don’t use a stiff-enough card stock paper, your unicorn might flop inward. I’ve tried to limit the possibility of this in the design, but it might still happen. So, if it does, the simple fix is to make an extra unicorn and just paste in on the back side.

- When the cut is complete, weed the design and repeat with the remaining number of centerpiece unicorns you plan to make.
- Cut your tissue paper into 6-inch squares and set aside.
- Insert a bamboo skewer into the point of a styrofoam cone, followed by the stems of the faux flowers, hot glueing them together, as necessary to keep them all standing up.
- Lay out 2-3 sheets of tissue paper on the table and place the styrofoam cone in the center of the tissue paper. Then pull the tissue paper corners up toward the center of the cone and wrap ribbon around the top of the cone, tying it in a bow to hold the tissue paper in place.
- Add more ribbons and bows as desired.
- Affix the unicorns to the bamboo skewers and enjoy!
And that’s it! Seriously–how simple is that, but you end up with this absolutely beautiful centerpiece for a baby shower.
