For real, these adorable unicorn centerpieces are so simple. Super easy to put together, you can use them for so much more than just a baby shower, if you’re looking for more ideas.

They’d be perfect for a fun birthday party, Valentine’s party or just about anything where you’d need a cute unicorn to hang out with you on a table.

Now, let’s get on with it and make our unicorn centerpieces!

Necessary Materials to Make Unicorn Centerpiece for a Baby Shower:

It seems like the list of materials is kind of long, but really, it’s just a few things–and some you might already have. To make these easy DIY unicorn centerpieces, I only needed three things:

  • Quality Card Stock Paper
  • Free Printable for the Unicorns (below)
  • Pink and Blue Ribbons
  • Pink and Blue Tissue Paper
  • Pink and Blue Faux Flowers
  • 2-inch Craft Foam Cones
  • Bamboo Skewer Sticks
  • Hot Glue Gun & Glue

Oh, and my Cricut and the light grip mat. I needed that, too.

Necessary Tools:

Making a fun unicorn centerpiece doesn’t have to be a big effort–it really can be super simple. I only needed just a couple of tools to make this craft one I love.

Basically, beyond those two major tools, you’re looking at needing some scissors to cut your tissue paper and a hot glue gun. Seriously easy.

Tips and Tricks:

If you’re having a couple of common problems, I probably ran into them, too. So, I’ve put my thoughts down so you don’t have to stumble around in the dark like I did.

  • Use hot glue, not a glue stick, to attach your unicorn to the bamboo skewers–the hot glue will last, the glue stick will fail you in the middle of the baby shower.
  • If your centerpiece falls over, you’ve put too much flower/ribbon/unicorn on top. So, easy fix: hot glue your centerpiece to a wood round!
  • Sometimes, if you don’t use a stiff-enough card stock paper, your unicorn might flop inward. I’ve tried to limit the possibility of this in the design, but it might still happen. So, if it does, the simple fix is to make an extra unicorn and just paste in on the back side.

Other Unicorn Baby Shower Centerpiece Ideas:

Look, I get it, sometimes you just don’t want to MAKE anything. You just want to pick something up off the shelf. So, to make that search a little easier for you, I pulled together a handful of alternative unicorn baby shower centerpieces you can peruse.

  • Look at this GORGEOUS felt unicorn centerpiece! So cute, I kind of want one just for me.
  • These balloon boxes are the coolest! You just toss a balloon inside and bam! You’ve got a centerpiece.
  • These unicorn mason jars are the most epic–and kind of fun centerpieces I think I’ve ever seen!
  • I have a feeling these simple pop-up centerpieces will be the belle of someone’s ball just because they’re so easy to deal with.

Instructions

  1. Working with one sheet at a time, download the PNG Files, then upload each to Cricut Design Space.
  2. Select "complex" image type. On the next screen, select "continue" and the following screen, select "save as a print and cut project".
  3. Insert the image onto the next screen, then select "make it".
  4. Load the white card stock into your printer and print the project.
  5. Place the printed card stock paper onto your light grip mat as shown on the screen in Cricut Design Space.
  6. Select medium-thickness card stock as the material.
  7. Load the light grip mat into your Cricut cutting machine and tell it to cut.
  8. When the cut is complete, weed the design and repeat with the remaining number of centerpiece unicorns you plan to make.
  9. Cut your tissue paper into 6-inch squares and set aside.
  10. Insert a bamboo skewer into the point of a styrofoam cone, followed by the stems of the faux flowers, hot glueing them together, as necessary to keep them all standing up.
  11. Lay out 2-3 sheets of tissue paper on the table and place the styrofoam cone in the center of the tissue paper. Then pull the tissue paper corners up toward the center of the cone and wrap ribbon around the top of the cone, tying it in a bow to hold the tissue paper in place.
  12. Add more ribbons and bows as desired.
  13. Affix the unicorns to the bamboo skewers and enjoy!
