Spelling Practice Help for Boys!

Sharing is caring!

Spelling is actually one of the hardest things to teach someone. I can ask a wide handful of people if they are good spellers and most of them will tell me, “No, thank goodness for spell check.” Spelling is actually one of the top types of errors that are found in a person’s writing. That’s why teaching kids how to spell is a vital skill for them to conquer. It actually puts them a step ahead of the rest of the majority of the population. Plus they can spend less time editing work and more time being productive. I’ve gathered up some spelling games to help your child excel at spelling.  Typically, boys hate the repetitiveness that comes with learning spelling words.  This Spelling Practice help for boys will get away from the worksheets and more into engaging learning (by the way, betcha your girls will love these games, too!)

Spelling Practice Help for Kids

Spelling is so much more fun when it’s done in a game-like fashion. You can now have your child sift-n-spell their way to better spelling.

This is a fun way for your kids to create their own little spelling dictionary.

More Spelling Resources:

While the below spelling resources aren’t free, I recommend having at least a couple of these in your Spelling Curriculum.

Melissa & Doug Deluxe Alphabet Stamp Set

C-Thru Plastic Lettering Guide Set

Adhesive Foam Letters – About 1040 Letters

Scrabble Board Game – I like to play Scrabble with my kids because it helps them to spell, but also helps to improve their vocabulary. One fun spelling word variation is to allow double points on any current spelling words used!

Hi Kelli I love your site. I have a very bright grade three boy who absolutely detests spelling. He memorized for quizzes then never spells anything correct in his writing. I love your games, ideas to teach spelling fun etc. Is there a “spelling package” with all of these ideas in one place I can purchase from you? My six year old girl would also enjoy this over summer. Thanks so much . I am in a small town in Canada.

Thanks so much for your sweet words. We do not have a spelling curriculum at this time, unfortunately. :-(
