Proverbs 13:20 teaches children to be mindful of the types of people they choose to spend time with, surround themselves with, make their confidants.

Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

In other words, when everyone around you is doing bad things, you are more likely to get caught up in that “mob-mentality” with them. Good behavior can be a very hard concept to really teach to our younger children.

Even if you don’t do what they are, you are guilty by association – in the eyes of the law and your peers. Working on character is a great way to help your children choose the right friends and associates.
